The Huddle: Now that it if football season, I notice in particular the huddle before every play. The players get together and plan what will happen next. I think about the importance of huddles in our lives: our families, our community, it takes a village. As I divide my time between two households, it definitely takes a village at each to keep things running, get everyone to school and practice, and celebrate achievements. My favorite place to be right now is at Ranger Stadium watching the Freshman Blue team. I also love the Albuquerque Academy tennis courts and Gold Cup gymnastics. My children have watched me compete in tennis tournaments (Horseshoe bay is our favorite) as we all support each other. I am fortunate to be surrounded by a warm community and women who teach and inspire me.
I recently contributed to Diane Cunningham Ellis' new book "Brave Women Connect" which includes stories of women connecting. As I wrote in my piece, I would not be the person I am without all the support of people in my life including my family, my Mastermind women, and my friends/my tribe. Who is your tribe? Are you getting the support you need? Do you ask for help? What can you do to build your huddle?
Come join us on Tuesdays this fall for networking, support, and teaching. We will meet again on October 20 and November 15 on my Zoom.
